Set on an exquisite piece of land directly on Grand Cove in Dennis was a fairly basic ranch-style house that was suffering from decades of neglect. Zoning regulations required that the existing home remain and that any renovations be kept almost entirely within the existing footprint. New siding and a pergola over the primary entrance transformed the exterior. The L-shape layout of the home and a pool house work to insert a courtyard effect in the front yard, making the property feel like a private compound. Installing oversized windows was the first step in making the interiors feels brighter. Several sets of sliders lead to a new deck that spans the entirety of the rear façade of the home, overlooking the water. The removal of several walls, and vaulting the ceiling in the living area, improved flow and lends a sense of spaciousness. Exposed architectural trusses draw the eye up to the vaulted ceiling. Every surface and fixture inside was replaced, forming the impression of an altogether new house.
