These clients of our New England architecture firm wanted a home that felt as though it had always been there, a definitive Cape Cod home with majestic appeal. A center gambrel is punctuated by a porthole window set in its highest point. Quartets of six-over-one double-hung windows frame the front door which is flanked by twin columns. Three trios of the same windows span the level above. At either of end the home is another gambrel, set perpendicularly to the center one. Each of the design elements work to add a sense of balance to the exterior. The interiors feel more like a year-round home than a summer house, with antique furnishings and art arranged throughout, including in the second-story living room where a grand piano is positioned in front of an arrangement of windows, allowing the player to savor the view of the creek.
