A windswept causeway ends at an island off the coast of Cape Cod where the homes are set well apart. On the far side of the island is an expansive home with a front façade punctuated by a turret set to one side of the entrance, which gains an unexpected sense of balance from an adjacent pair of peaks with varied heights. Upon entering the home, an almost unavoidable view of the ocean is framed by an arrangement of oversized windows and sliding doors at the far side of the open-concept floor plan with the kitchen, dining area, and one of several sitting areas. Just outside is a terrace set at the same level as the indoor spaces. A path leads to the private beach. Designed for a couple with a large extended family, the home’s first floor includes one of several bedroom suites. Upstairs is a second sitting area with a vaulted ceiling. Here, another set of sliders lead to a balcony where the stunning vista can be fully enjoyed. Inside the turret is an intimate space. Two bunkrooms and two additional bedroom suites, each with a private balcony, complete the second story.
