Eastward Point House

With its location alongside a saltwater marsh on a peninsula in Chatham, high tide plays a crucial role in the ever-changing view from this home. The tide and topography were also a factor in the design decision to go with a reversed floor plan, with the primary living spaces on the upper level and bedroom suites on the lower floor. A wide stairway lined with woodwork leads to the open living space running along the back, water-facing side of the house. A coffered ceiling and built-ins help to define various areas of the large space, as does an expansive island in the kitchen. On the exterior, a triple-gambrel roof line is a nod to the Cape Cod vernacular and a distinctive characteristic of an ERT Architects-designed home.
